Summary of Our Privacy Guarantee: Real Online Notepad operates on a 100% client-side, on-device model. Your notes, titles, drafts, and passwords are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We do not track you, sell your data, or use advertising trackers.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

When you use Real Online Notepad (accessible at realonlinenotepad.com):

  • We do not require you to register, create an account, or log in.
  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or payment details.
  • We do not transmit your note content, titles, or revision histories to any external server or cloud database.
  • We do not use third-party analytics trackers, surveillance scripts, or invasive behavior-recording tools.

2. How Your Notes Are Stored (Local Storage & IndexedDB)

All document data, note content, formatting, custom settings, and version snapshots created within Real Online Notepad are saved directly inside your own web browser using the standard IndexedDB and LocalStorage APIs.

This data lives exclusively on the physical storage of your laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone. No employee, server, or automated crawler has access to your local databases.

Important Note on Clearing Browser Data: Because your data resides 100% on your device, clearing your browser's "Site Data", "Cache", or "IndexedDB Databases" will permanently erase your local notes. We strongly advise using File → Backup All Notes (JSON) or File → Download to keep regular personal backups.

3. Note Password Protection & Cryptography

When you use the password protection feature in Real Online Notepad, encryption is performed entirely on your device using the browser’s native Web Crypto API:

  • Algorithm: AES-GCM (Galois/Counter Mode) with 256-bit keys.
  • Key Derivation: PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations and a unique cryptographically secure random salt.
  • Zero Knowledge: Your password is never stored in plain text and never sent over the network. If you forget your password, the note cannot be recovered by anyone.

4. Third-Party CDNs and Static Assets

To deliver fast typographic fonts and mathematical formula rendering, Real Online Notepad loads static libraries from trusted public Content Delivery Networks (CDNs):

  • Google Fonts: For serving typography families (such as Plus Jakarta Sans, Inter, JetBrains Mono, Merriweather).
  • jsDelivr / Cloudflare CDN: For loading the static KaTeX mathematical equation rendering stylesheet and script.

These requests are strictly for static CSS/JS files and contain no user note data or document contents.

5. Cookies and Tracking

Real Online Notepad does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or persistent cross-site tracking beacons. The only information persisted in your browser is functional preferences (such as your chosen theme, active font, and line spacing).

6. Children’s Privacy

Because Real Online Notepad does not collect any personally identifiable information from any user, we comply fully with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and international digital privacy standards.
